# Introduction

*Own the Planet.*

Civitia is a decentralized game that invites users to collaborate and interact within a unique social and financial ecosystem, leveraging [Initia](https://initia.xyz/) modular blockchain and [Celestia](https://celestia.org/) modular data availability network.

Civitia comes from *Civitas (latin: a body of people constituting a politically organized community).* The game's lore imagines a world where Earth has suffered a nuclear catastrophe, leading to the collapse of civilization. Players need to rebuild it by collaborating both socially and financially within communities while striving to achieve their best individual outcomes.

Civitia inherits both capitalism (free market, supply/demand pricing) and socialism (wealth tax, rent regulation) mechanics simulating a real-world environment of the modern era.

While Civitia shares some mechanics with [Monopoly](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monopoly_\(game\)), it distinguishes itself as a continuous, global application where all users participate in the same real-time game.

# Concepts

Important concepts and actions inside Civitia

**City**

Civitia's board is divided in 18 cities grouped in 6 sets.\
Each city has different properties: rent prices and pricing curves.\
Each set of cities has a seasonal city.

**Unit**

A unit is an instance of a city. They can be minted and burned indefinitely.\
A city's unit can only be minted when landing on its square but can be burned at any time.\
Holding a unit grants the owner a share of all payment rents being paid in that city.

**Playing and Paying Rents**

Playing Civitia requires the user to hold INIT.\
When visiting a city, users are required to pay rent in INIT to move according to its type of user. \
Once the user throws the dice and moves out from a city, the rent payment is subtracted in INIT.

**Minting and Burning units**

When landing on a city, the user is granted the ability to mint a unit with INIT.\
Units can be burned in exchange for INIT at any time, based on their current price.\
Minting and burning pricing follows a linear bonding curve.

**Seasons**

Seasons are weekly epochs for city residents to compete for additional rewards.\
These rewards include rent boosts in their city of residence, jackpot earnings and VIP distribution.

**Residences**

Players that want to participate in weekly seasons are required to mint a residence pass.\
When minting a residence pass, they can place their residence in any city they own.\
Based on their residence, players will get rent boosts and earn season jackpots, along with VIP.

**Seasonal cities**

A seasonal city is a city that is destroyed at the end of each season and reset for the next one.\
Units that are not burnt by their owners before the end of a season are destroyed.

**Rent distribution**

Each time a rent is paid it is divided amongst all the holders of the city. \
Distribution of rents depends on the units of each city every user and their boosts.\
There are two types of rent boosts: Residence and sets.

**Residence contributions**

Players with an active residence automatically contribute to their city of residence.\
For each 1 INIT spent in minting units and paying rent, their city of residence gets 1 Contribution.

**Tax Points and sabotaging**

Apart from contributing to their residence, players with an active residence also earn Tax Points the same way they Contribute. \
Tax Points can be used to sabotage other cities and decrease their score when landing on their square.

**City score**

Cities score defines its radiation using *Score* *= Total contributions - Total sabotages*

**City radiation**\
\
Based on its score, a city has more or less Radiation, and therefore lower or higher rent multiplier.\
All cities are reset to 5/5 radiation at the beginning of each season.

# Campaign Details

Keplr recently launched Oko, their embedded wallet with social logins. Civitia is one of the first apps to integrate it, allowing users to onboard seamlessly with their Google account.

To celebrate this milestone, Keplr and Civitia are launching a three-season collaboration campaign.

> 30,000 INIT will be distributed to new players who try the Oko wallet and play Civitia using it.

### **How to participate**

From **January 22 to February 12**, **create an Oko account** on [app.civitia.org](http://app.civitia.org/) and **complete any (or all)** of the following tasks:

* Create an Oko account on [app.civitia.org](http://app.civitia.org/) and roll the dice for the first time.
* Mint 5 different cities for the first time.
* Complete a daily quest for the first time.
* Spin the Rewards Wheel 5 times.
* Mint a residence for the first time.
* Complete all seasonal quests for the first time.

### **Rewards**

* **Total prize pool:** 30,000 INIT
* **Reward distribution:** Each completed task earns you INIT. The more tasks you complete, the more INIT you receive. Rewards will be distributed at the **end of the campaign, after February 12**.
* You can track your progress on the new task dashboard on [app.civitia.org](http://app.civitia.org/).

Note: We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to disqualify any participant suspected of abusing the campaign or attempting to gain rewards through unfair or deceptive means.

# Lobby

Lobby is the first phase of Civitia mainnet launch. In Civitia's game lobby:

* **Testnet players** will be able to **claim their Testnet rewards.** Any rewards not claimed by the end of the lobby phase will be forfeited.
* By **bridging and holding INIT** during the Lobby phase, **users will earn SILVER** at a specific rate.
* Lobby users will also earn **Initia VIP rewards** (esINIT) **based on** their accumulated **SILVER**. Note that SILVER earned through referrals will not be taken into account in the VIP score.

The lobby phase aims to ensure all Civitia players are incentivized to bridge INIT earlier instead of waiting until the last moment and potentially suffer from bridge delays and/or issues.

### `What are Testnet rewards?`

Testnet claimable rewards are [GOLD and Genesis cities](https://x.com/civitiaorg/status/1866815655095439839).

GOLD is a non-transferrable onchain token.

Genesis cities are Babylon and Alexandria, 100% owned by Testnet players.

All rents and income from Genesis cities will accrue to their owners.

### `What is SILVER?`

Similarly to GOLD in Testnet, SILVER is non-transferrable.

Civitia SILVER can only be earned by contributing to the Civitia ecosystem.

Earning SILVER increases your [Initia VIP](/community/initia-vip) scoring to receive INIT rewards.

### `How do I earn SILVER?`

Users can earn SILVER during lobby phase by bridging INIT and/or referring other users.

To earn SILVER during lobby phase, non-testnet players are required to introduce a referral code.

#### Bridging INIT

Users that bridge and keep INIT in Civitia L2 will earn SILVER based on their real-time balances.

$$
SILVERearned= 0.05 \* I \* t
$$

*where I = INIT amount held by users (tokens) and t = Time duration of INIT holdings in fractional days*

That means that keeping a balance of 100 INIT earns 5 SILVER per day.&#x20;

SILVER is accrued in real-time so changes in balances are constantly taken into account.

#### Referrals

Users that link their X accounts will also be able to create a referral code to onboard new players:

* Referrers will earn 3% of their referee's SILVER
* Referees will earn 1% additional SILVER

### `How do I earn VIP rewards?`

SILVER farmers are distributed INIT from the Initia VIP mechanism.

The VIP score in each epoch is equal to the SILVER accrued during the epoch divided into 100.

However, SILVER earned from referral codes is excluded in the VIP score.

Read more about how Initia VIP works [here](/community/initia-vip).

### `Do I keep my SILVER balance after the lobby phase?`

Yes, SILVER balances are not lost upon getting these rewards and will be kept after launch.

After launch, SILVER will only be obtained by playing Civitia game.

### `What's the duration of the lobby phase?`

To prevent mercenary farming of SILVER, lobby exact duration will not be disclosed beforehand.

However, we can confirm lobby phase will NOT exceed 6 weeks.

### `So, wen lobby?`

Lobby phase will launch once Initia mainnet goes live at <https://lobby.civitia.org>

# Currencies

Overview of currencies and tokens used Civitia

Civitia is powered by Initia’s token INIT in order to make the game economy fully circular with in-game sinks and Initia’s native inflation.

On top of that, Civitia has one non-tradable in-game currency: Tax Points.\
\
Additionally, Civitia SILVER and GOLD are soulbound tokens that reflect players activity and achievements in Civitia.

<table><thead><tr><th width="126">Currency</th><th width="148">Description</th><th>Utility</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>INIT</td><td>Initia native token</td><td><p>Required to play and perform basic actions:</p><ul><li>Playing and paying rents</li><li>Minting city units</li></ul><p>All rent payments are also distributed to users in INIT.</p></td></tr><tr><td>Tax Points</td><td>Utility game currency</td><td><a href="/game-mechanics/contributions-and-tax-points">Tax points </a>can be earned and spent but are not transferable and therefore have no utility outside Civitia (they cannot be exchanged).</td></tr><tr><td>SILVER</td><td>Soulbound token</td><td><a href="/community/silver-and-gold">SILVER</a> is non-transferrable. # Playing

The ultimate goal of Civitia is to acquire cities by playing in order to collect rents, while collaborating with other players to achieve collective goals. Civitia empowers players to create their own social and financial strategies and decisions.

#### Civitia Rules

* Players start playing by rolling the dice and landing on a specific city.
* When visiting a city, players are required to pay rent in order to move forward.
* Rent payments vary depending on the type of user (see Rent cost penalty below).
* Players can also land on special squares that have their own features.
* When staying in a city, the user has also the opportunity to mint a unit of it.
  * The cost of minting a city is dynamic and depends on its bonding curve.
* When minting a unit, the user will start collecting rents from other players.
  * Rents are distributed linearly but boosts may apply.
  * Boosts can be obtained by minting a residence or completing sets.
* Units can be burned in exchange for INIT at any time, based on their current price.
* Seasons are weekly competitions between cities and residents.
* Players with an active residence automatically contribute to it and earn Tax Points as they play.
* Tax Points can be used to sabotage cities when visiting a city.
* Cities score define their radiation and set their base rents.
* Players earn 1 SILVER for 1 Contribution to their city of residence.
* If a player does not throw the dice at least one time within 24 hours, the player units will stop collecting rents and will turn into Inactive mode. Only Active units accrue rent earnings.

**Rent cost penalty**

Rent cost penalty can be seen as a wealth tax and is method to incentivize new players to play Civitia. Players with more units are required to pay higher rents when they land on a city whilst new players only pay the base rent of the city.

On the other hand, due to paying higher rents wealthy players with active residences contribute more to their cities of residence, and therefore earn more [SILVER](/community/silver-and-gold) and [Tax Points](/game-mechanics/contributions-and-tax-points).

<table><thead><tr><th width="164">User</th><th width="162">Vehicle</th><th width="188">Criteria</th><th width="199">Rent cost penalty</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Poor</td><td>Bike</td><td>0-19 units</td><td>x1 </td></tr><tr><td>Normie</td><td>Car</td><td>20-39 units</td><td>x2</td></tr><tr><td>Rich</td><td>Boat</td><td>40-59 units</td><td>x3</td></tr><tr><td>Elite</td><td>Jet</td><td>60-99 units</td><td>x4</td></tr><tr><td>Degen</td><td>Rocket</td><td>≥ 100 units</td><td>x10</td></tr></tbody></table>

# Cities and sets

Cities minting and burning pricing follows a linear bonding curve.

The specific pricing formula depends on its set and the amount of units in circulation.

<table><thead><tr><th>Set</th><th width="146">Cities</th><th width="115">Minting initial price</th><th width="218">Minting/Burning price</th><th width="177.5390625">Base rent cost</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Red</td><td>Baghdad<br>Caracas<br>San Francisco</td><td>0.25 INIT</td><td>INIT = 0.001n + 0.25</td><td>0.01 INIT</td></tr><tr><td>Brown</td><td>Pyongyang<br>Karachi<br>Jakarta</td><td>0.5 INIT</td><td>INIT = 0.002n + 0.5</td><td>0.02 INIT</td></tr><tr><td>Orange</td><td>Rome<br>Buenos Aires<br>Istanbul</td><td>1 INIT</td><td>INIT = 0.005n + 1</td><td>0.05 INIT</td></tr><tr><td>Light Green</td><td>Barcelona<br>Paris<br>London</td><td>1 INIT</td><td>INIT = 0.005n + 1</td><td>0.05 INIT</td></tr><tr><td>Green</td><td>Seoul<br>Zurich<br>New York</td><td>2 INIT</td><td>INIT = 0.01n + 2</td><td>0.1 INIT</td></tr><tr><td>Blue</td><td>Dubai<br>Singapore<br>Tokyo</td><td>4 INIT</td><td>INIT = 0.05n + 4</td><td>0.2 INIT</td></tr></tbody></table>

*Where n = amount of units in circulation*

**Seasonal cities**

Each set of cities contains a seasonal city that is destroyed at the end of each season and reset.\
Seasonal city units that are not burnt by their owners before the end of a season are destroyed.

Seasonal cities are the second of each set: *Caracas, Karachi, Buenos Aires, Paris, Zurich and Singapore.*

**Minting and burning**

As explained above, the circulating supply of each city is used for the minting and burning pricing.

If Seoul has a 10 supply, the following will be applied:

* If a new user mints a unit of Seoul -> Minting price = (0.01\*10) + 2 = 2.1 INIT
* If a holder of Seoul burns a unit -> Burning price = (0.01\*9) + 2 = 2.09 INIT

**Protocol fee**

A 5% protocol fee is applied when minting and burning units (in INIT).

This protocol fee is sent to the Civitia DAO treasury address and the proceedings will be used towards game development and maintenance of the Civitia ecosystem.

**Set boosts**

When a user mints and holds all three cities (including the seasonal city) of a given set a boost is applied to their rent earnings from all the cities in that set.

Each set of cities gives a x1.05 boost (+5%) that can be accumulated owning multiple sets.

A detailed explanation can be found in [Rent distribution.](/game-mechanics/rent-distribution)

# Special squares

Civitia special squares contain specific mechanics around financial, social and gaming features.

**Jail square**

When landing on the jail square, players are required to take a decision: Bail or Bribe the officer.

When choosing to bail, players need to pay a specific amount to get out of jail. When choosing to bribe the officer, lucky players may be able to get out of jail for a cheaper amount or end up paying more than the initial bail price.

100% of the proceeds from jail square are accrued as jackpots and distributed in [Seasons](/game-mechanics/seasons-and-residences).

**Citizen cards square**

When landing on the Citizen cards square, players are required to draw a card from the deck.

The default Citizen card deck has the following cards:

<table><thead><tr><th width="200.5703125">Card</th><th width="109.0546875">Probability</th><th width="456.09375">Effect</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Silver prize</td><td>10%</td><td>Player wins 5 SILVER per owned unit (max 1000 SILVER)</td></tr><tr><td>Property service charge</td><td>10%</td><td>Player pays 0.25 INIT per owned unit (max 100 INIT)</td></tr><tr><td>Tax bonus</td><td>20%</td><td>Player wins 5 TP per owned unit (max 1000 TP)</td></tr><tr><td>Toll</td><td>20%</td><td>Player pays 2 INIT</td></tr><tr><td>Teleportation</td><td>20%</td><td>Player moves to bunker</td></tr><tr><td>Jail</td><td>20%</td><td>Player moves to jail</td></tr></tbody></table>

100% of the proceeds from Citizen cards square are accrued as jackpots and distributed in [Seasons](/game-mechanics/seasons-and-residences).

**Bunker square**

Bunkers are similar to normal cities but they only have one owner.

When landing on a bunker, any user is able to mint a unit. When minting it, the previous owner unit is auto-burned at the same price.

Minting price of bunkers increments with the total number of mints.

Bunker rents work like normal cities but in this case the owner earns 100% of the rents.

Bunkers have health and can be destroyed collectively using Tax Points. Last owner's unit is destroyed and its INIT is lost. Once destroyed, price of the bunker is restored to its initial price.

Bunker units can't be manually burned by their owners.

```
// Example of how bunkers work
1) Player A lands and mints 1st unit of bunker for 0.1 INIT
2) Player A earns 100% of rents
3) Player B lands and mints 2nd unit of bunker for 0.2 INIT
4) Player A unit is auto-burned and perceives 0.1 INIT - 5% fee
5) Player B now earns 100% of the rents
6) Other players attack the bunker and destroy it. Price is restored to 0.1 INIT.
```

Bunkers have two type of inherent social features:

* The owner's Initia address is shown so everybody can know who currently owns it.
* Bunker owners are able to collect all rents from other players until they coordinate enough to destroy it and restore its initial price.

Bunkers have no minting fee. See the table below to find the active bunkers in the board

<table><thead><tr><th width="125">Bunker</th><th width="188">Minting initial price</th><th width="212">Minting/Burning price</th><th width="327">Base rent cost</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Hawaii</td><td>0.5 INIT</td><td>INIT = 0.5n + 0.5</td><td>0.05 INIT</td></tr></tbody></table>

*Where n = amount of units minted*

**Tax Authority square**

When landing on a Tax Authority square, players are required to File Taxes if they hold ≥ 1 TP.

When filing taxes, players can earn X2 their current Tax Points or lose them all.

Players have the ability to use their Tax Points instead of filing for taxes.

**House of fortune squares**

House of fortune are squares without owners.

When landing on house of fortune squares, all players are required to pay rent according to their player level and base rent.

100% of that rent is accumulated as a jackpot in each house of fortune.

Before leaving the square, users have 0.1% chance of getting 100% of the accumulated jackpot.

# Rent distribution

Every time a user pays a rent it is distributed amongst all the holders of the city.

Distribution depends on multiple factors:

* How many units there are
* If holders are also residents in the city -> they get a boost
* If holders own all cities of a set -> they get a boost
* If holders have player the last 24 hours -> their units are active

City holders are able to claim their accrued INIT from rents in their User's screen.

#### Set boosts

The boost for owning a set is x1.05 (+5%) for each completed set.

Set boosts can be accumulated owning multiple sets.

#### Residence boosts

The boost for minting your residence in a city is x2 (+100%).

Additionally, you also get a loyalty boost of x1.1 (+10%) for renewing your residence in the same city you had before that is lost once you change your city of residence.

***

*Below is an example of rent distribution assuming a supply of 12 units and 10 INIT rent.*<br>

<table data-full-width="true"><thead><tr><th width="114">Player</th><th width="79">Units</th><th width="101">Set boost</th><th width="156">Residence boost</th><th width="106">Is active</th><th width="82">Ownership</th><th width="144">Perceived rent (in INIT)</th><th>Perceived rent (in %)</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>A</td><td>1</td><td>No</td><td>No</td><td>Yes</td><td>1</td><td>0.79 INIT</td><td>7.9%</td></tr><tr><td>B</td><td>1</td><td>x1.05</td><td>x2</td><td>Yes</td><td>2.1</td><td>1.65 INIT</td><td>16.5%</td></tr><tr><td>C</td><td>3</td><td>No</td><td>x2.1</td><td>Yes</td><td>6.3</td><td>4.96 INIT</td><td>49.6%</td></tr><tr><td>D</td><td>3</td><td>x1.1</td><td>No</td><td>Yes</td><td>3.3</td><td>2.6 INIT</td><td>26%</td></tr><tr><td>E</td><td>4</td><td>No</td><td>No</td><td>No</td><td>0</td><td>0 INIT</td><td>0%</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Total</strong></td><td><strong>12</strong></td><td></td><td></td><td></td><td><strong>12.7</strong></td><td><strong>10 INIT</strong></td><td><strong>100%</strong></td></tr></tbody></table>

# Seasons and Residences

The new core gameplay of Civitia

Seasons are weekly competitions among residents.

To become a resident, players must mint a residence pass for the current season.

When minting it, players assign their residence to a city from their portfolio.

Having a residence is the only way to automatically contribute to a city.

Read [here](/game-mechanics/contributions-and-tax-points) a detailed explanation on increasing contributions and Tax Points.

### Season rewards

There are four different season rewards that players can obtain:

#### Resident rent boosts

Residents receive a x2 (+100%) booster on all rents earned in their city of residence during the season.

Players who renew their residence in the same city receive an additional x1.1 (+10%) boost on top of the resident rent boost.

*Example of how rent boosts and loyalty work:*

| Season | Residence | Rent boost |
| ------ | --------- | ---------- |
| 1      | Tokyo     | x2         |
| 2      | Tokyo     | x2.1       |
| 3      | Tokyo     | x2.2       |
| 4      | Singapore | x2         |
| 5      | Tokyo     | x2         |

#### Jackpot rewards

Jackpot rewards accumulate in various squares across the game board (e.g. jail square).

These rewards form a prize pool for cities to compete over during each season.

Cities compete based on their Score (*total contributions - total sabotages*) during a season.

At the end of each season, the top 6 cities with the highest net score receive the jackpot rewards:

* 1st place: 40% of the jackpot
* 2nd place: 25% of the jackpot
* 3rd place: 18% of the jackpot
* 4th place: 10% of the jackpot
* 5th place: 5% of the jackpot
* 6th place: 2% of the jackpot

*Example if a player A did 3000 contributions to Tokyo and total jackpot was 1M INIT:*

<table data-full-width="true"><thead><tr><th>Rank</th><th width="138">City</th><th width="111">Score</th><th width="173">Jackpot</th><th>Residents contributions</th><th width="164">Player A contributions</th><th>Player A earnings</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>1</td><td>Dubai</td><td>65000</td><td>400K INIT (40%)</td><td>70000</td><td>-</td><td>-</td></tr><tr><td>2</td><td>Tokyo</td><td>50000</td><td>250K INIT (25%)</td><td>60000</td><td>3000 (5%)</td><td>12500 INIT (5%)</td></tr><tr><td>3</td><td>New York</td><td>25000</td><td>180K INIT (18%)</td><td>35000</td><td>-</td><td>-</td></tr></tbody></table>

#### SILVER rewards

Players earn SILVER in direct proportion to their residence contributions (1:1).

*For example, if a player did 3000 contributions to Tokyo in the current season, he'll earn 3000 SILVER.*

#### Initia VIP rewards

Civitia's VIP scoring mechanism is based on SILVER earned in each stage.

*If player A has earned 3000 SILVER during the current stage and the total SILVER earned by all players is 30000 SILVER, he will receive 10% of the esINIT distributed to Civitia VIP.*

Read more about how VIP works in Civitia [here](/community/initia-vip).

# Contributions and Tax Points

An active residence is required to make contributions and earn Tax Points (TP).

Both Contributions and Tax Points are earned on a 1:1 ratio with INIT spent.

For every 1 INIT used in minting units or paying rent, players receive:

* 1 Contribution (sent to their city of residence)
* 1 Tax Point (added to their wallet)

**Impact on Gameplay**

The balance between contributions and sabotage influences a city's [Radiation level](/game-mechanics/city-radiation) and base rent prices.

**Contributing to Cities**

Contributions are automatically sent to the player's city of residence.

Players automatically earn SILVER 1:1 when contributing to their city of residence.

**Sabotaging Mechanics**

Tax Points accumulate in the player's wallet and can be used for sabotage when visiting a city.

Once used for sabotage, Tax Points cannot be reclaimed.

# City Radiation

Cities Score determines its Radiation.&#x20;

*Score* *= Total contributions - Total sabotages*

* There are 6 levels of Radiation.&#x20;
* Every new season cities are reset to 5/5 Radiation.

Every level of Radiation has a rent multiplier increase effect to each city base rent but only changed by Radiation level thresholds.

<table><thead><tr><th width="176">Net Score</th><th width="181">Radiation</th><th width="182">Rent multiplier</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>-∞ to 10k</td><td>5/5</td><td>x1</td></tr><tr><td>10k to 20k</td><td>4/5</td><td>x1.1</td></tr><tr><td>20k to 40k</td><td>3/5</td><td>x1.2</td></tr><tr><td>40k to 60k</td><td>2/5</td><td>x1.4</td></tr><tr><td>60k to 100k</td><td>1/5</td><td>x1.6</td></tr><tr><td>100k to +∞</td><td>0/5</td><td>x4</td></tr></tbody></table>

Below you can find an example for Singapore with a initial base rent at 0.2 INIT

<table><thead><tr><th width="188">Current Singapore Net Score</th><th width="181">Radiation level</th><th width="152">Rent multiplier</th><th>Final rent</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>-50k</td><td>5/5</td><td>x1</td><td>0.20 INIT</td></tr><tr><td>0k</td><td>5/5</td><td>x1</td><td>0.20 INIT</td></tr><tr><td>5k</td><td>5/5</td><td>x1</td><td>0.20 INIT</td></tr><tr><td>15k</td><td>4/5</td><td>x1.1</td><td>0.22 INIT</td></tr><tr><td>30k</td><td>3/5</td><td>x1.2</td><td>0.24 INIT</td></tr><tr><td>50k</td><td>2/5</td><td>x1.4</td><td>0.28 INIT</td></tr><tr><td>80k</td><td>1/5</td><td>x1.6</td><td>0.32 INIT</td></tr><tr><td>101k</td><td>0/5</td><td>x4</td><td>0.80 INIT</td></tr><tr><td>120k</td><td>0/5</td><td>x4</td><td>0.80 INIT</td></tr></tbody></table>

# Quests

There are two types of quests: **daily** and **seasonal**. They are tasks that users can complete to earn extra rewards.

Both residents and non-residents can complete quests, and most of the rewards are exclusively available to residents.

**Daily quests**

Daily quests are simple tasks that can be completed in a short timeframe.

* Completing a daily quest grants one free spin on the Rewards Wheel.
* Completing 10 daily quests in a row grants an additional free spin.

**Seasonal quests**

There are always 5 seasonal quests to complete during one season, with different difficulty levels. The harder the quest, the greater the reward.

Seasonal quests fall into three tiers:

* **Tier 1:** Simple quests, similar to daily quests. With a reward of 1k SILVER.
* **Tier 2:** Medium-level quests that require multiple actions and more effort. With a reward of 10k TP.
* **Tier 3:** Challenging quests that demand preparation, determination, or capital to complete. With a reward of 25k contributions.

# Rewards Wheel

The Rewards Wheel is a feature where users can spin for prizes and earn extra rewards.

Any user can spin the Rewards Wheel, however, Direct Contribution can only be claimed by residents.

*Important note: If a user claims a Direct Contribution without being a resident, the rewards will be lost. SILVER, however, can be claimed by non-residents, giving the opportunity to participate in the VIP distribution without having a residence.*

Users can also buy a Rewards Wheel ticket for 10 INIT. A maximum of 10 tickets can be bought and used per day.

Tickets are NFTs and can be traded between players.

**Rewards Wheel distribution**

The distribution prizes are the following:

* 5% - Additional spin ticket
* 5% - 100 SILVER
* 5% - 200 SILVER
* 5% - 500 SILVER
* 5% - 500 TP
* 5% - 1k TP
* 5% - 2k TP
* 5% - 5k TP
* 5% - 500 contributions
* 5% - 1k contributions
* 5% - 2k contributions
* 5% - 5k contributions
* 2.5% - 1k SILVER
* 2.5% - 5k SILVER
* 2.5% - 10k TP
* 2.5% - 20k TP
* 2.5% - 10k contributions
* 1% - 25k TP
* 1% - 25K contributions
* 0.5% - 100k TP
* 25% - Nothing

# Recruit rewards

The **Recruit Rewards** program is a referral scheme designed to grow the Civitia community and bring together more players and enthusiasts.

It rewards users who support the platform through inviting friends, sharing it within their communities, or creating content about it.

For each player who plays and mints a residence in Civitia, the referrer will receive:

* **50% of the first minted residence**
* **1% of that player’s trading volume** (minting and burning). To qualify, the player must mint at least one residence. For players referred before Season 16, the 1% reward will begin after their first residence is minted in Season 16 or later.

All rewards can be claimed in **INIT**.

* The referee will receive an **extra 3% in SILVER**.

*Note: This program is not a direct payment scheme, but an organic initiative designed to grow and strengthen the Civitia ecosystem through the support of those who believe in the project.*

**Referral Link**

For each referred user, a **personal referral link** can be created. Any new user who signs up through this link will be included in the referee program after their first dice roll.

The link becomes more personalized when the referrer links their Twitter account, making it more unique and recognizable.

**Tracking Rewards**

Referrers can monitor and claim all their rewards through the **Recruit Rewards dashboard**. This provides a clear and easy way to see how many players have been referred, which ones have minted residences and are actively playing, as well as how many rewards have been earned from each player.

*Note: In cases of abuse of the referral program, such as referring fake players, Civitia reserves the right to take any necessary measures to protect the community.*

# Silver and Gold

Civitia SILVER and GOLD are onchain metrics that reflect players activity and achievements in Civitia.

Both currencies are non-transferable and can only be earned by contributing to the game.

### Silver

SILVER is the active community currency of Civitia.

SILVER can be earned when playing Civitia seasons with an active residence.&#x20;

Players currently earn SILVER 1:1 to their residence contributions.

Additionally, players can also earn SILVER by referring other players:

* Referrers earn 3% of their referee's SILVER
* Referees earn 1% additional SILVER

[VIP distributions](/community/initia-vip) are currently tied to SILVER earnings.

### Gold

GOLD can no longer be earned.

Initia incentivized testnet players were able to acquire GOLD by rebuilding or sabotaging cities.

### Civitia token

# Initia VIP

Vested Interest Program (VIP) is a program to align the interests of all participants within the Initia ecosystem, by distributing esINIT to the whitelisted rollups, such as Civitia.

The VIP dashboard can be found [here](https://app.initia.xyz/vip).

### Civitia VIP scoring

Civitia DAO is responsible for submitting the VIP scoring of all players.

VIP scoring is based on SILVER earned (except referrals) at every stage.

$$
Score= SILVER\* 100
$$

Players need an active residence to earn SILVER for each action they make on Civitia.

A detailed leaderboard of Civitia VIP scoring can be found in [app.civitia.org](https://app.civitia.org).<br>

# Civitia DAO

Until further decentralization, Civitia DAO is responsible for managing Civitia's treasury wallet and the development of the Civitia ecosystem.

The Civitia treasury wallet is managed by a multisig of 3 signers (⅔ threshold) from the Civitia core team and Initia community.

The DAO proposals are all public and transparent: <https://dao.civitia.org/>

Civitia core team believes in fully decentralized onchain games and autonomous ecosystems but acknowledges decentralization is better approached following a [progressive framework](https://a16zcrypto.com/posts/article/progressive-decentralization-a-high-level-framework/).

# Founding Citizens

Founding Citizens are limited-edition NFT assets within the Civitia ecosystem that will only be available during Lobby phase. \
\
This equipment will not only enhance your game journey but also pave the way for a truly onchain, community-owned ecosystem, together with SILVER and GOLD.\
\
There are three different equipments inside the collection:

* **The capsules** are the building blocks of Civitia ecosystem, providing essential meaning to your Citizen journey.
* **The orb** enhances your Citizen gameplay and strengthens your connections with the Civitia community.
* **The tank** symbolizes mastery and commitment, ensuring your legacy as a distinguished Citizen in Civitia.

# Risks associated

Last Updated: April 24, 2025

*Using Civitia involves certain inherent risks that users should be aware of. While we strive to provide a secure and enjoyable gaming experience, it is essential to understand the following risks associated with our decentralized gaming application.*

### 1. Smart contract risks

*Civitia operates on smart contracts, which are self-executing contracts with the terms directly written into code. While smart contracts are designed to be secure, they are not immune to bugs or vulnerabilities. Issues in the code could lead to unintended consequences, including loss of assets or disruption of services. Users should understand that any interactions with smart contracts carry a risk of failure.*

### 2. Security vulnerabilities

*As a decentralized application, Civitia may be exposed to various security vulnerabilities, including but not limited to:*

* ***Hacks and Exploits**: Cyberattacks targeting decentralized applications can lead to unauthorized access, theft of assets, or manipulation of game mechanics.*
* ***Phishing Attacks**: Users may be susceptible to phishing attempts designed to steal wallet information or private keys. It is crucial for users to remain vigilant and only interact with official Civitia channels.*

### 3. Market risks

*While Civitia focuses on in-game utility items rather than financial investments, users should be aware that the value of NFTs and in-game assets may fluctuate based on market demand and supply dynamics. This volatility can affect the desirability and usability of in-game items.*

### 4. Regulatory risks

*The regulatory landscape surrounding blockchain technology and gaming is constantly evolving. Changes in regulations could impact how Civitia operates or restrict access to certain features. Users should remain informed about applicable laws and regulations in their jurisdictions.*

### 5. User responsibility

*Users are responsible for safeguarding their web wallets (e.g., Leap, MetaMask, Keplr, Phantom, Initia) used to access Civitia. This includes:*

* ***Private Key Security**: Users must ensure that their private keys and recovery phrases are kept secure and confidential. Sharing or exposing this information can lead to unauthorized access and loss of assets.*
* ***Wallet Management**: Users should regularly monitor their wallet activity and transactions for any unauthorized actions. It is essential to use wallets from reputable sources and ensure they are updated to the latest versions.*
* ***Caution with Links**: Users should exercise caution when clicking on links or interacting with third-party services related to Civitia. Always verify that you are using official channels to avoid phishing scams.*

### 6. Limited recourse

*In the event of a loss due to smart contract failure, hacking, or other unforeseen circumstances, users may have limited recourse for recovering lost assets. Unlike traditional financial systems, decentralized applications operate without centralized authorities that can intervene in disputes or recover lost funds.*

*By using Civitia, you acknowledge and accept these risks associated with decentralized gaming applications. We encourage users to exercise caution and conduct their own research before engaging with our platform.*

# Bots and fair play

Civitia's game mechanics are designed to let players create and explore their own strategies, and that’s what makes Civitia exciting. Different players, different approaches, all coexisting in one space.\
\
At the same time, the game should remain fair for everyone. It’s a delicate balance, and that’s why the Civitia team actively monitors for harmful behavior and takes action when needed, always making sure it doesn’t negatively affect the game dynamics.\
\
Automating strategies, like using bots, or playing with multiple wallets isn’t banned by default. But if these actions harm the game mechanics or other players’ experiences, Civitia reserves the right to take the necessary measures to protect the community.\
\
We encourage all players to get creative, build their own strategies and compete, always with fairness in mind and respect for the rest of the community.
