# Silver and Gold Civitia SILVER and GOLD are onchain metrics that reflect players activity and achievements in Civitia. Both currencies are non-transferable and can only be earned by contributing to the game. ### Silver SILVER is the active community currency of Civitia. SILVER can be earned when playing Civitia seasons with an active residence. Players currently earn SILVER 1:1 to their residence contributions. Additionally, players can also earn SILVER by referring other players: * Referrers earn 3% of their referee's SILVER * Referees earn 1% additional SILVER [VIP distributions](https://docs.civitia.org/community/initia-vip) are currently tied to SILVER earnings. ### Gold GOLD can no longer be earned.
